The number of ski resorts that offer downhill lift-serviced mountain biking in has exploded since the turn of the century.

That’s probably because of an increased interest thanks to technological advances that make mountain bikes more approachable for the average person, and the desire of ski resorts to make more money during the offseason.

Dodge Ridge Mountain Resort, which is located about 150 miles west of the Bay Area, is joining the growing list of ski resorts hopping on the trend, and will offer lift-serviced mountain biking for the first time ever on Saturday, August 13th.

Dodge’s bike park will debut with one freeride trail that stretches 4.5 miles down 800 vertical feet off the Motherlode Chairlift. The resort plans to add more trails throughout the summer and into the fall.

The park will operate weekends only through October.

Bike park tickets are $49 for adults. Bike rentals including pads and a helmet are $79.

It’s a modest start for Dodge Ridge, but surely it’s a sign of big things to come. Here’s to hoping you all have a great opening weekend!

Mountain Biking

Opening For The Season Saturday, August 13
Open Every Saturday + Sunday (9am – 5pm) through October (weather permitting). We’ll evaluate conditions for November operations at that time.

Dodge Ridge Mountain Resort is excited to announce that our first season of chairlift-accessed Mountain Biking is planned to open Saturday, August 13, 2022. The Dodge Ridge Mountain Bike Park will operate every Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 5pm (Beginning August 13) through October 2022 (weather permitting). We’ll evaluate Mountain Bike Park operations for November at that time.

All trails will descend from the top of Motherlode Chairlift 3 at the 7,400 foot elevation and traverse out across the mountain. Currently, the crews at Dodge Ridge are working hard to get our first trail with nearly 4.5 miles of Freeride, beginner/lower-intermediate terrain completed by opening day (Saturday, August 13), featuring numerous Freeride rollers and banks throughout.
Following the completion of our first trail, and our Opening Weekend Festivities, we’ll continue to build additional trails throughout the summer and into fall, introducing more intermediate to advanced trails, with approximately 9 miles planned for this season.

Take a look at the trail map with both an Intermediate Technical and an Intermediate Freeride trail currently in development, slated for completion shortly after opening weekend. Check back for updates.
