“Always watch your back while hiking.”

Friendly reminder to always check your six while out hiking alone, you never know who or what might be sharing the trail. The following video comes from Austin Simmons who was out hiking east of the Cascades in Washington State when he realized a mountain lion was clocking him from the side of the trail. Unnerving to say the least.  Remember, if you encounter a mountain lion try to remain calm and maintain eye contact. Mountain lions will normally avoid confrontation but if one displays aggression make yourself appear as big as possible, yell and throw whatever you can at it (water bottle, rocks, sticks) to convince the cat you’re no easy prey and could be dangerous yourself. Stay safe out there folks.
