Since taking over as GM in 2021, Jon Hunt has been working on modernizing Whaleback Mountain in New Hampshire. They have invested heavily in summer activities, as they currently working with Upper Valley Disc Golf Association to install a disc-golf course, have added a weekly summer volleyball league, and regularly host open-mic nights and concerts. Their future plans include a new t-bar, continued renovations to their double chairlift, improved snowmaking systems, an expanded glade network, and more. Currently, the non-profit ski area’s major project is improving their night skiing.

Yesterday, Whaleback started a fundraiser to improve their night light situation. Their night skiing host hundreds of kids for after-school programs, and ski racers for their Thursday Night League. Some of their current lights don’t cover parts of their trails that are open for night skiing.

As pictured above, the highlighted trails will see new, energy-efficient night lights: Upper Lift Line, Spout, Scrimshaw, and Canyon. These are some of the most commonly open trails from the summit at Whaleback, so having reliable lights is essential. So far, they have raised over $8600 dollars. You can view the fundraiser here.
