It’s hard to have a successful ski area operation in New England without snowmaking, due to the inconsistent weather and the rain/ice storms that come at the worst times. Somehow, the Lyndon Outing Club has managed to pull off this feat since 1938. With a changing climate actively creating more challenging circumstances, Lyndon Outing Club is looking to protect its future.
On July 14th, the ski area announced that they are beginning to pursue adding snowmaking to one of their trails. They are aiming to add it from the summit to the Face trail, which is an intermediate run. With the resort opening for the 2021-22 season on February 5th, adding snowmaking is a necessity. The ski hill has started to reach out to funding sources to begin working on the project.
In terms of summertime activities, Lyndon Outing Club is adding a mountain biking trail in the near future. If you’re interested in making a contribution, reach out to David Williams, Chair of the Snowmaking Committee, at 802-745-7115.
