Arizona Snowbowl Shuts Down Due to Pipeline Fire

While floods are affecting parts of the Western United States, wildfires are raging in Arizona, California, and New Mexico. In Arizona, the Pipeline fire is inching closer to Flagstaff and the Arizona Snowbowl. The Pipeline fire is 0% contained and has grown to at least 5000 acres. According to KNOE 8 News, the cause of the Pipeline is likely due to someone lighting up some toilet paper on fire while camping, and putting it under a rock. The individual apparently didn’t see the “no campfire” signs and was recently arrested.  Yesterday, the Arizona Snowbowl announced that the ski resort will be closed until further notice. While the ski resort said it’s not a direct threat to the mountain, the wildfire being 0% contained should raise eyebrows. This is not the first time this year that we’ve heard of a wildfire inching closer to a ski resort, and it likely won’t be the last.
