Arizona Snowbowl was forced to hault all summer operations today as Coconino National Forest will close tomorrow, June 23rd, due to persisent fires, dry conditions, and the threat of more wild fires.

Arizona Snowbowl sits within Coconino National Forest on Mount Humphreys just outside of Flagstaff, AZ.

It’s unclear how long the forest will be closed to the public, but some are expecting the closure to last weeks.

There are multiple fires raging near Arizona Snowbowl, including the Slate Mountain fire that has burned over 11,000 acres in just one day.

This year is shaping up to be one of the worst years in recent history for wildfires due to the extreme drought plauging the American southwest.

Our thoughts are with the brave firefighters tackling the blazes in Arizona, and across the rest of the country.
