Earlier this week, the Alterra Mountain Company announced $344 million dollars in capital improvements, including major improvements at Crystal Mountain Resort. The ski resort in Washington will spend $100 million dollars on remaking the resort, starting with the Mountain Commons. The  Mountain Commons will be a 25,000 square foot base lodge that will offer new retail and dining options and will also include an outside beach area to hang out at. The Cascade Lodge(the current base lodge) will be renovated in order to “welcome an expanded Brand X rental and demo shop and an enlarged Crystal Kids facility, providing more space, better flow, and faster access to the lifts.” Construction will begin in the Spring, and Crystal Mountain will be setting up some temporary structures for retail, tickets, and food while they are building the structure. The new base lodge will be open for the 2023-24 season. But wait, there’s more! Phase two will add a new summit lodge and a new one hundred-room hotel as the base area. This new hotel will “feature meeting and conference space to host large groups and corporate events, along with commercial space for dining and retail.” No timeline has been set on the new hotel or summit lodge. Crystal Mountain also said they’re adding an aerial adventure park, and are looking at lift replacements and more summer activities in the near future. A video announcement and photos of the plans are below…
