It’s time for some positive Vail Resorts moves. After opening up two new chairlifts this winter, Okemo is adding an old friend to their trail network. This week, Okemo reopened its halfpipe and even expanded its walls from 13′ to 18′ feet. New Terrain Park Manager Joey Leppien worked at Boreal Mountain and Woodward Tahoe over a ten-year period. He is now working on making sure Okemo has one of the top terrain park setups on the East Coast again.

It’s extremely rare for ski resorts to build halfpipes these days, especially on the East Coast. For example, Loon Mountain, which typically has a halfpipe set up, won’t be opening theirs this season. They take a lot of time, effort, and a lot of snowmaking to make it happen. So it’s lit to see an Eastern ski resort, especially a Vail-owned one, make an effort to improve their terrain park experience. Some photos of the new halfpipe are below…
