Why is it acceptable for Jo-shmo to write hateful shit online to pro athletes, but the athletes aren’t supposed to respond? It’s so frustrating.
Jo-shmo is probably on his couch with his hands down his pants, Cheeto dust smeared over his fat face, and unpaid child support bills piling up, but a pro athlete isn’t supposed to protect themselves and their hard-work?
I’m all for athletes clapping back at the trolls. Kevin Durant is a champion in that regard, and I hope Mikaela Shiffrin becomes one as well.
Has she struggled in the Olympics? Yes. Does that mean random people should be allowed to hurl insults and vitriol at her without consequence? No.
