Mikaela Shiffrin once again failed to make it past run one in the Women’s Slalom on Wednesday, February 9th, at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. A crash knocked her out in the first run of the Giant Slalom on Monday, February 7th, while in the Slalom event, Shiffrin missed the fourth gate. Both incidents took place early on in the runs.

According to an NBC Sports commentator, Shiffrin’s GS crash on Monday was the first time she’s skied out of a Giant Slalom race in 2 years. Her failure, however, isn’t much of a surprise, as more than twenty racers crashed out in the race, with several in the same area.
