What a breath of fresh air. A mountain is actually reporting their snow conditions accurately and not inflating them to draw more skiers. Mad River Glen’s motto is “Ski It If You Can”, and they’re letting guests know that conditions are less than ideal at the moment.
Mad River’s willingness to let people know that conditions suck makes me respect them even more than I already did. Maybe more ski resorts will catch-on that people appreciate honesty more than anything. Lying about conditions to bring more people to the mountain might be good for business on a daily basis, but will ultimately ruin a mountain’s overall reputation.
Good on MRG, and I hope things turn around for them soon! They’re putting some good karma out there, and I think the universe will reward them for it.
