Big Sky Resort is kind of a big deal right now. Thanks to Big Skys 2025 Plan, and other impressive developments around the area, the place is instantly becoming one of the best ski towns in the country. But the developments aren’t done just yet. The Flat Iron Development will create another large base area around the Thunderwolf and Lone Moose 3 lifts. According to Lone Peak Lookout, the plans were approved on December 10th. This means another large base village will be part of Big Sky Resort’s future.

According to Explore Big Sky, the following is planned for the 535 acres of land: multiple lifts that connect guests to the Thunderwolf and Lone Moose lifts, ski trails that go through the village, summer trails,  hotels, residential properties, commercial spaces, workforce housing for nine hundred people, and parking. The village would be spread out through twenty-four building structures, and 2635 total units. There are various concerns involving the construction though, which include the impacts on traffic, wildlife, and the local environment. The full build-out of the land would take twenty years to complete. You can read the full plan here.
