The COVID-19 pandemic has driven prices up for the vast majority number of goods and services globally. Consumer prices are up 6.2% and this will have a heavy effect on the ski industry. Simply put, the cost of a weekend ski trip will be more expensive than ever.

In Colorado’s ski country, the rising costs of goods will certainly be felt by skiers. In this report from Denver 7, a CEO of a ski shop discusses the rising costs of ski equipment. A restaurant owner outlines the need to raise prices to offset rising costs of food and ingredients and to offset staffing shortages.

At the end of the day, all of these price increases will be passed down to the consumer. It is sad to think of what a weekend in ski country costs a family of casual skiers. With the price increases, the sport will only continue to become more and more exclusive.
