The sport of skateboarding has long been associated with the youth. Go to any skatepark and there will be hoards of kids and teenagers carving around. Yoshio Kinoshita, an 81-year-old retired construction worker from Japan is proving that age is truly a number and skateboarding is for everyone.

Yes, the idea of an 81-year-old skateboarder is amazing. Perhaps what is more interesting is that Kinoshita picked the sport up at the ripe age of 79. After drinking some beers, he bought a $7 skateboard at the local market and got hooked on the sport. This isn’t the old guy you see at the skatepark every once and again who has been skating since 1989, this is a senior citizen who picked the sport up at 79. Unreal.

It is hard not to smile when watching this video. Having hobbies and activities you are passionate about is good for the soul. Clearly, Kinoshita looks pretty stoked.
