10/19/21 Tues morning update: 6-10” overnight and it’s snowing hard. Remember that avalanche conditions are most sensitive during and just after a storm. Human triggered avalanches are possible this morning in steep terrainUtah Avalanche Center

Heads up if you’re looking to get some pre-season turns in the Salt Lake City Area, state officials are warning that avalanches are possible in the coming days.

The Utah Avalanche Center advises that avalanches are most common during and just after a storm, such as the one happening today. The biggest threat is currently above 9,500 feet. It’s currently snowing hard in the mountains and some areas have already received 40 inches of snow this month.

Officials want to remind those traveling in avalanche prone areas to have a partner and the correct gear to be prepared: a beacon, shovel and probe are essential. Stay updated avalanche forecasts anytime on the Utah Avalanche Center’s website.
