Ah yes. My favorite time of the year. Three ski resorts near Loveland Pass, CO will try to best each other to be the first resort to open, but who will claim the title? Loveland Ski Area, Arapahoe Basin, or Keystone?
All three resorts have shared images and videos of snow guns firing, and all have accumulated natural snowfall this past weekend with more snow on the way. I’m really hoping we get a repeat of 2019 when Arapahoe Basin stole Keystone’s thunder by opening for 2 hours the day before their announced opening date, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
For now, enjoy the sights and sounds of snow guns firing away. I know it isn’t as good as seeing natural snow fall on the slopes, but skiing is skiing no matter what kind of slippery surface you’re riding. Snow guns blowing is a sign that the resorts are gearing up to open, and that should make any skier or rider excited!
