Interstate-70 between Denver and Summit County is infamous for its horrendous ski traffic. Every weekend in the winter, skiers battle this heinous traffic to get into the mountains to their favorite ski hill. The worst part? The congestion on I-70 is intensifying by the year.

A series of new apps are attempting to cut down on this problem by promoting carpooling and rideshare. According to GoI70.com, the three apps are called Gondola, TreadShare, and Caravan. Each App has a different target group, but the goal of all three is to connect skiers with open seats in a vehicle bound for the mountains.

A report from 9 News states that this is the first organized and streamlined effort to promote carpooling to the resorts. Some resorts offer preferred parking for skiers and snowboarders who carpool to the hill. These three apps are launching this fall. Hopefully, the apps are effective and can get people into the mountains more smoothly.
