Disaster struck the Nitwhawk Year-Round Adventure Park in Grande Prairie, Alberta during May of 2020, as a landslide caused the complete dislocation of multiple lift towers of their only top to bottom lift. Since then, fundraising has been underway to help reconstruct the lift. On October 2nd, Nitehawk will host a comedy event to raise funds to reconstruct the lift. The ski area is getting closer to a resolution for the lift, but they will need to purchase a new chairlift to get the terrain back open to the public. It’s not clear if that the funds are raised this month, that the lift will be able to open in the 21-22 season. Video and photos of the effect of the initial landslide on the chairlift can be viewed below. You can donate to the ski resort here.
