“One of the paramedics looked at me and said, ‘We need an airway,’ meaning this has to be done, and that’s when I proceeded.” –Dr. Jesse Coenen

Hats off to Dr. Jesse Coenen who came across an injured biker surrounded by medics while out for a ride Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails in Minnesota and performed an impromptu lifesaving tracheotomy. CBS Minnesota reports Dr. Coenen had only done the procedure in training and was hesitant at first but in the ended up saving the injured bikers life. The injured biker was airlifted to a hospital, where he was treated for a traumatic brain injury. The two have already made plans to meet next summer and go for a ride. Incredible.
