Who would have thought that a luxury car brand would become synonymous with high-level action-sports competitions? Well, Audi has done exactly that over the last decade with their various ‘Nines’ competitions in skiing, snowboarding, and now mountain biking.

This year’s competition is being held at Bike Park Idarkopf in Germany. Idarkopf is a defunct ski area that hasn’t operated in over 20 years, and the new plan is develop the area into a world-class bike park over the next few years. The Audi Nines competition is taking place in a quarry on the resort’s property.

The lines are big, the features are bigger, and I don’t know how any of this stuff is even possible. Gotta throw a big thanks to corporate interests for making comps like this possible. Hate to say it, but they control the future of progressing sports like mountain biking.
