A major expansion is coming to Caberfae Peaks in Cadillac, Michigan. Caberfae Peaks GM Tim Meyer spoke with Stuart Winchester of the Storm Skiing Podcast to discuss the mountain and the future expansion plans for the Michigan ski resort. The new terrain will be called East Peak and will be serviced by a Dopplemayr Triple. East Peak will be accessible off North Peak and the Smiling Irishmen run. It will be open for the 2022-23 season. The @StormSkiJournal confirmed the news prior to the podcast release last week.
Just finished a pod interview with Tim Meyer, Co-owner/GM of @CaberfaePeaks Michigan. That will drop next week, but Tim confirmed that the ski area is aiming to build a THIRD peak called East Peak, serviced by a brand-new Doppelmayr triple, for the 22/23 season. (1/2)

The new triple will replace the Shelter Double, a 1967 Hall double. They will put it in storage along with 2 other Hall doubles that they already tore down. Meyer said these may be used again somewhere else on the mountain, possibly strung together as a single lift. (2/2)

In terms of Midwest mountains, Caberfae Peaks is one of the most unique. For one the mountains boast “backcountry” skiing on the west side of the mountain. Secondly, Caberfae’s main peaks were man-made, making for some steep terrain. Lastly, Caberfae Peaks is on the Indy Pass, making it a great option for Midwest skiers looking for a mountain with a varied amount of challenge. Go check this mountain out next time you’re in Michigan!
