We posted back in September that Mad River Glen was fundraising money to pay for a brand-new trail map painted by the legendary trail map artist James Niehues. The Kickstarter raised $121k, sufficient funds for Niehues’ work, and today he shared a first glimpse of the new map.

The painting is beautiful, obviously, and has that classic James Niehues style. The new map is a considerable upgrade from the ski area’s previous trail map that looks like somebody made it on Microsoft Paint, no offense…
There’s really nobody out there that can touch Niehues’ hand painted maps. I look through my copy of ‘The Man Behind The Maps’ every once in awhile just to appreciate the beauty and learn about resorts across the world.
