What began as a celebration ended in tragedy when a tow truck driver ran a red light striking our group.” Jones was present to witness the horrific event as it unfolded.

Channer 12 News in Arizona reported Flagstaff police stated that one adult was pronounced dead on scene, four others were transported to Flagstaff Medical Center, and one refused treatment. 29-year-old Joanne Wheaton is identified as the deceased.

The fact that this happened when we were wearing every piece of visibility clothing imaginable only serves to highlight how this is, and always has been a car issue. Watch out for cyclists, do not text and drive, and push your city’s government to adopt bike friendly infrastructure.

A GoFundMe page has been launched to help the victims with medical bills and funeral expenses. Unofficial Networks shares heartfelt condolences with the friends and families of the victims in this tragic event.
