“Five truck-sized boulders slid onto the road, closing the highway in both directions. Heavy snow in the area as well. Expect an extended closure while crews work to clear the area. Use alternate routes.” –Colorado Department of Transportation
It must have sounded like a bomb went off in Boulder Canyon last night after heavy rain and snow in the area referred to as the Narrows released five truck-sized boulders on to the highway below. Thankfully no one was hurt, and no vehicles were damaged. Highway 119 will likely remain closed between mile posts 26-41 through Wednesday as crews clean up the debris and assess the damage.
