The last piece of the puzzle (so to say) is a 45-day objection period in which anybody may voice their opinion if the oppose the expansion.
Loveland can begin the expansion as early as this summer if the U.S. Forest Service still approves of the project following the objection period.
The diagram below shows the proposed improvement and expansion that Loveland is requesting. The proposed parking lot location is at the bottom of the diagram flanking I-70.
The green shaded areas show plans for tree clearing, and the yellow dotted lines indicate areas where grading will take place.
The Environmental Assessment (bureaucratic literature couldn’t be more dry) notes that the expansion isn’t likely to drive more business to Loveland Ski Area, but will provide a better experience to those that do visit.
Beginner terrain expansion at Loveland Valley and a new parking lot aren’t exactly exciting, but I’m interested how this proposed expansion will play-out.
