Tragic news out of Utah where a man died following an avalanche Saturady afternoon in the backcountry near Park City. KUTV reports the victim has been identified by authorities as 57-year-old Kurt Damschroder. The avalanche was triggered by Damschroder and another skier at around 3:30 p.m. Saturday outside the boundaries of Canyons Village in the area known as “Square Top.” The second skier located Damschroder, who was swept away by the slide, and attempted life-saving measures for more than an hour before extreme avalanche conditions forced him to leave the area and prevented emergency responders from reaching the site.  Response crews were able to locate Damschroder’s body Sunday afternoon. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.
