Six lucky people on Highway 199 in Oregon got impromptu injections of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine after getting stuck along side a Josephine County Public Health Team with doses about to expire. With an accident on the snowy road causing a snarl in traffic with an indeterminate end and six doses of vax with a limited shelf life, the public health team decided to knock on windows and see if anyone wanted a shot. The team had to convince surprised drivers that it wasn’t a practical joke. One dude was so pumped up he popped his shirt off completely instead of rolling up the sleeve despite the driving snow. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. Incredible.
When @JoCoPH concluded its vaccination event at the Illinois Valley High School, they never guessed they might be setting up an impromptu clinic on the way back to Grants Pass. But that's exactly what happened when a snowstorm stranded about 20 personnel on Highway 199. pic.twitter.com/0QdreROw4p
