The PNW is getting absolutely drenched today with 1 to 2 inches of rain expected across the region. Multiple ski areas/resorts are holding lifts to brace for the impact.

Mt. Hood Meadows, OR

Mt Hood Meadows suspends operations through March 22 | Meadows

“We have suspended operations for Tuesday due to weather, and we’ll return to normal operations Wednesday.”

Mt. Hood Skibowl, OR

“DUE TO SIGNIFICANT RAIN EXPECTED WITH HIGH FREEZING LEVELS WE WILL BE CLOSED JANUARY 12TH.”

Timberline Ski Area, OR

“The ski area will be closed tomorrow January 12th due to the windy and extremely wet weather arriving tonight. This will be a welcome day off for many of our folks. If you had a ticket or lesson for tomorrow you may reschedule for a different day. The hotel will remain open! We will resume ski operations on Wednesday the 13th. Thank you for your understanding!”

Mt. Baker Ski Area, WA

Mount Baker Ski Area first in state to open; others may soon follow | The  Seattle Times

“Due to forecasts calling for major rain today, with accompanying winds and snow levels at 6,000 feet, we are going to take a pause and TEMPORARILY CLOSE THE SKI AREA FOR TODAY January 12th. Forecasts are predicting that snow levels will drop back down to around 2,000 feet tonight with a good amount of snowfall into tomorrow morning, so at this time we will be REOPENING ON WEDNESDAY, January 13th.”
