Standing at 24,786ft tall, Annapurna III in the Himalayas of Nepal was first ascended 6 May 1961 by an Indian expedition led by Capt. Mohan Singh Kohli via the Northeast Face but it’s Southeast ridge proved one of the world’s greatest unsolved puzzles of alpinism. In 2016, a team led by David Lama together with Austrians Hansjörg Auer and Alex Blümel made a push to crack the riddle.
