The California Department of Public Health released new COVID-19 guidelines for Campgrounds, RV Parks, and Ski Operations yesterday.

Among the extensive list of COVID-19 guidelines, and procedures, are regulations for ski resort lift ticket sales. Including:

“Requiring all customers to have a valid, pre-purchased lift ticket,
season pass, or advanced reservation to receive access to the base
areas and use the ski lift and/or gondola”

Which essentially means you’ll need to purchase lift tickets in advance to ski at any California ski resort this season.

The guidelines also require California resorts to implement parking pass reservations, and to prevent non-skiers or riders from parking at the resort.

COVID-19 rears it’s ugly head on the ski industry again. It’s a shame that reservations will be required this season, but I guess it’s better than not having a season at all.

I just realized the allure of being a ski bum with a season pass is slowly diminishing. Those that we normally consider lucky for being able to ski whenever, and for however long, will simply not have the same privilege this season.
