Colorado Governor Gathering Insight From Southern Hemisphere Ski Resort COVID Operations

By

Gov. Polis was joined by Senator Kerry Donovan and Representative Janice Rich during a Q&A session last week where he addressed the upcoming ski season. There’s a working group with all the ski resorts in Colorado (some with direct ties to Southern Hemisphere ski industry) that is informing local guidelines and recommendations with the help of county health departments. Polis pointed out they had already reopened A-Basin during the pandemic (albeit only for 2 weeks at the tail end of the spring) and they are working on different strategies tailored for different types resorts from smaller locally driven resorts to the mega-resorts that usually rely on out of state and out of country guests. Polis acknowledged that the on-slope experience is relatively safe with the exception of pinch points like lift lines and they are actively working on improving the off-slope ski town experience to keep locals and visitors safe throughout the season. Video skips to the bit about ski resorts:
