Disturbing aerial imagery if Soldier Mountain is your home mountain. The Idaho ski resort’s lodge escaped damage during the Phillips Fire but the only bridge to the resort was destroyed, effectively cutting off access. Unfortunately, the magic carpet and other assets including the resort’s snowmaking equipment were destroyed. The fire burned directly under the chairlifts and heat damage will be assessed once it is safe. Fingers crossed the lifts are in working order. Gnarly.

The lodge and lifts are still intact, but the bridge that gives access to the resort, the magic carpet and other assets were destroyed. The fire went directly under the lifts and since the fire is still an active threat, we will have to wait to further assess the extent of the damage. Unfortunately we won’t be able to debut our expertly crafted trail system as planned. We look forward to rescheduling the grand opening at an indeterminate date.
