“We know how important it is for runners to protect themselves and others when running, but also that many find masks uncomfortable and restrictive. So, we created the Asics Runners Face Cover, uniquely designed for runners with cutting-edge technology and an innovative design that gives runners room to breathe comfortably while performing at their physical peak.” -Kenichi Harano Asics Executive Officer

Asics just announced it has started producing face masks that allow runners to drink water while running. Runners World reports the masks designed at the Asics Institute of Sport Science have air vents that allow runners to breathe as they move, while preventing the spread of droplets. The masks are constructed from quick-drying fabric which Asics say cools the air flowing into the mouth and also allows runners to drink while running. The mask will be available mid-September, at a cost of $45.

“The ASICS RUNNERS FACE COVER is designed to prevent the spread of droplets by covering the nasal passage without restricting airflow. This mouth cover’s material helps the fabric dry quickly while improving comfort and breathability. Equipped with more room inside the mouth cover to make it easier to breathe, this accessory also has strategically placed air holes that increase airflow while preventing saliva from splashing into the open air. Featuring an adjustable fit to accommodate a wide range of runners, this design is also formed with approximately 31% recycled materials for a more sustainable manufacturing approach. Formed with a water repellent exterior, the ASICS RUNNERS FACE COVER is also equipped with a washable fabric that makes it easier to keep clean.”
