I’d like to take a moment to signify the unofficial end of the Winter ’19-’20 season. Please pause for 19 or 20 seconds and “pour one out” if you happen to have a beverage on hand…

Winter ’19-’20 passed away suddenly this week. She was only 4 or 5 months old.

Winter ’19-’20 had her ups and her downs, but she brought joy to millions of people. While snowfall was average to slightly below average for most of the country, there were still countless memories made.

Winter ’19-’20 started in the shadow of her brother (Winter ’18-’19), but was able to shine at certain moments. Who could forget the “snowpocalypse” that saw 3+ ft. hit the rockies, or the over 200″ that fell on Mt. Baker in December?

Winter ’19-’20 will be sorely missed by Unofficial Networks writer Matt Lorelli. He will remember her for blessing him with great conditions at Mount Bohemia, Smugglers’ Notch, Mad River Glen, and Arapahoe Basin. He has requested to be “left alone” in this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Winter ’19-’20 asks that you donate to climate change prevention organizations to preserve future winters. The family has also asked that you respect their privacy at this time. They are distraught after the premature death of their loved one.
