“What else can I say? Putin is the man, with a capital M.” –Resort Director Akbar Roziev

A ski resort in Kyrgyzstan just unveiled a 8.2 ft statue of Russian President Vladimir Putin, this after the resort’s founder received a $1.2 million loan from a Russian-sponsored development fund.

The Moscow Times reports the monument to the Russian leader was erected last month. It looks out over the snowcapped peaks surrounding the Kyrgyz resort 30 kilometers south of the capital, Bishkek.

Resort director Akbar Roziev couldn’t get the credit line he was looking for from Kyrgyz banks but found the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund, opened in 2014, extended him a loan at 4%.

“I didn’t know how to express my gratitude. Thanks to his loan, we now have a (much better) center. What else can I say? Putin is the man, with a capital M.” –Resort Director Akbar Roziev

Putin’s likeness will join other monuments of leaders erected by the ski resort, including Vladimir Lenin. Akbar Roziev says the newest statue has become a tourist attraction with skiers and snowboarders regularly snapping selfies with it.
