Incredibly tragic news out of southern Poland where eight people were killed in a building collapse caused by a gas explosion at the ski resort of Szczyrk.  Reuters reports four children and four adults where found in the rubble of the collapsed 3 story building. They were most likely from two families.

Roughly 200 people participated in the rescue efforts. The search operation would be scaled down on Thursday with heavy machinery brought in to sift through the rubble. No more victims are expected to be found. A local gas utility said the explosion was likely caused by a hole drilled into an installation.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of the victims.
