The Grand Canyon National Park Service posted a photo this week of two “hikers” in a scary situation as they inched their way down an ice-covered switchback along the canyon.
It’s hard to tell what the exposure below them is, but even a small fall in conditions like this could turn ugly very quickly. At a minimum, these guys should have been wearing Crampons Ice Cleats.
The top part of Grand Canyon trails are icy!
Don't risk it – like these folks. If you plan to hike this week bring your shoe traction devices and trekking poles – or purchase them in village shops: (shoe traction $20-$45) (Rent poles at General Store $3 per pole per day) pic.twitter.com/VkaVKtlOq4
