Attention grabbing title but thems the facts. GitHub CEO Nat Friedman usually lives in San Francisco but he traveled to one of the world’s northernmost inhabited areas, Svalbard, Norway (Norwegian archipelago between mainland Norway and the North Pole) to inspect his “Arctic Code Vault.”
Friedman wants to protect 6,000 of the most popular opensource projects by storing them inside a mountain located at 80° North. His aim is to protect the world’s software from the apocalypse and to preserve our modern way of life. Might want to take up sailing and nordic skiing while you’re at it Nat because if shit really hits the fan this ain’t no cakewalk to get to.
