An advisory committee that has been exploring ways for private businesses to operate on public lands has introduced a report with ideas to modernize campgrounds to the Department of the Interior. CBS Denver reports recommendations included amenities like Wi-Fi, running water, and food trucks.
The committee suggests modernization initiative for campgrounds could attract more overnight visitors to National Parks and recommends selecting 5 to 10 National Park sites as pilot projects by December.
To be clear, The Interior Department is in no way obligated to follow the recommendations for the more than 1,420 campgrounds in its system and has openly said it doesn’t have the money to do so. With that said, how would you feel about watching Netflix on ripping fast WiFi while eating a Korean taco with a side of garlic truffle fries at your favorite National Park?
