Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley lies just 30 mins outside of Tucson, AZ and is practically on the same latitude as Jackson, MS. It is considered the United State’s southernmost ski resort. It’s somewhat baffling this place even exists. It should be noted that the resort fails to open some seasons due to lack of snow and lack of snow-making equipment. But, when it snows, the southern Arizonans get after it at Mt. Lemmon.

Despite being so far south, Mt. Lemmon’s peak altitude of over 9,000′ allows for snowfall, and well… skiing! Check out the resort stats below.

Vertical Rise: 950 ft

Base Elevation: 8200 ft

Summit Elevation 9157 ft

Annual Snowfall: 180 inches

Number of Trails: 22

Skiable Acres: 200

Number of Lifts: 3

I knew about Arizona Snow bowl and Sunrise, but never would have guessed you could ski close to Tucson! I’m adding Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley to my bucket list.
