If you want to own the ultimate Steamboat statement piece now is the time. The ski resort donated one of its retired gondolas to the nonprofit Advocates of Routt County which is auctioning it off to help victims of domestic violence. Bids started at $5,000 and are currently at $6,000. The auction continues until Aug. 30. Place your bid HERE.
This is your chance to own a piece of Steamboat Springs History while also giving back to the community. This Ski Gondola can be used as a statement piece in the front of your home, for your kids to play in, or something in between.
Funds raised from this donation will be used for our new child/youth advocacy program. With this program, we will be looking to hire a Child/Youth Advocate who will work directly with child and teen secondary-victims (those who have witnessed violence) as well as teen primary victims (those who have experienced violence themselves). The Child/Youth Advocate will be specifically trained in working with children and teens while also having a robust knowledge of domestic and sexual violence, and its impacts on children. The Child/Youth Advocate will also be trained on how to administer developmental assessment tests as well as using the ACE and resiliency tests so that children can be properly and appropriately referred for any necessary additional services. Lastly, the Child/Youth Advocate will provide preventative educational presentations within the schools (from elementary to high school). This is a much needed service in our county and we are looking forward to expanding our programming to have a larger positive impact on our community.
We will work with the auction winner on pick-up, however, any costs associated with shipping, delivery, etc. will need to be carried by the winner of the auction.images from steamboatresort IG
