A border collie living in Iceland might just be the luckiest dog in the world. Þota, a one-year-old border collie, disappeared last
Sunday on her morning run around the family farm. When the dog failed to return home her owners began to worry. With recent snowfalls and avalanche activity the owner feared the worst.

After a failed search and rescue mission that included the help of neighbors, social media, a four-wheel-drive buggy and even a drone that was flown over the area, the outlook for the dog did not look bright.

Then on Saturday morning, six days after the dog went missing, Þota returned to the farm. Her owners followed her paw-prints back to where the dog had been buried by an avalanche for 6-days.

It appears Þota was able to self-rescue by digging herself out of the snowpack by tunneling her way to freedom.
