Liftblog.com is reporting that yet another European chairlift has caught fire.  The latest fire engulfed a Doppelmayr six pack called “Le Family” at the La Pierre-Saint-Martin in the French Pyrenees.

The lift, which was built in 2014 at a cost of €7 million, looks to be a complete loss. The fire burned so strongly that the steel haul rope appears to have snapped with chairs on the line.

This is the third fire to engulf a European chairlift in four months. A fire destroyed two aerial tramways near Chamonix in September and another fire on December 3rd burned the bottom terminal of a 10 passenger gondola in Zillertal, Austria.

Thankfully the fire erupted after the lift had closed for the day and no one was injured. The caused of the fire is still under investigation.
