A horrible sight in ski racing

It doesn’t get any worse than a crash like this. It just doesn’t. During a downhill event at Val Gardena, ITA Swiss downhiller, Marc Gisin caught a weird edge before taking a jump and was sent careening through the air. He was later transported to a hospital after the crash to seek treatment for a traumatic brain injury. Luckily, CTI scans have led doctors to believe that Gisin avoided any “serious injury” to his cranium.

Injuries sustained in the crash besides the TBI include fractured ribs and a potentially punctured lung. Other notable ski racers including Mikaela Shiffrin and Lindsey Vonn sent our their condolences and well wishes to the Swiss national via twitter following the crash.

We wish Marc the best on his road to a full recovery.
