“Avalanche on Franz Joseph glacier right before our eyes. Very cool to hear that crack then watch as chunks of ice tumble.”
Gnarly springtime ice avalanche filmed at the Franz Josef Glacier in New Zealand. Hard to guestimate the size of those ice boulders that went tumbling downslope but the sound of them breaking apart gives you some idea of the forces involved:
