For those who love winter, the global disappearance of glaciers is disheartening, especially when you consider the short amount of time it’s taken for them to melt.

A new graphic by the European Geosciences Union – EGU shows how it took these glaciers over 100,000 years during the last major ice age to form and solidify within their alpine valleys.

Here at Unofficial, we’ve been hoping for a “mini ice-age” since the last one ended in 1715 AD. Maybe this is the season it returns and replenishes glacier skiing for the masses? Fingers crossed…
