The shot ski… its origins may be debatable but what’s clear is the unifying force inherent in shooting hard liquor with your friends. When three or more après-skiers join forces as one to lift and drink in unison, a lasting bond is formed and stories are told for years to come. Yes, the shot ski is the ultimate attention-grabbing-friend-maker and this weekend, all eyes will be on Park City, as they attempt to break the record for the world’s longest.

Park City is no stranger to the record. In fact, they set the original mark in 2017 when they bolted 476 skis together, totaling 2,225 feet. Ultimately 1,275 people lifted the shot-ski to their lips.

That mark that was broken the following year at Breckenridge’s Ullr Festival where 1,266 participants tossed 1,266 shots back in unison. “We love the competitive nature of the Park City locals, and we are determined to be back on top with a new shot ski record this year,” says Park City Rotary Club member, Connie Nelson.

It’s that competitive vibe which prompted an invitation to 1,275 shot-takers to line up this Saturday at 2pm on historic main street in order to surpass Breckenridge’s mark. And to help with that cause, Park City looped in après-ski heavyweight, High West Distillery as their presenting sponsor.

Consistently ranked as one of the top après-ski locations in the world, High West Distillery is no stranger to ski town partying. Located right next to the town lift, the distillery consists of two 100+ year-old buildings. The new record breaking shot-ski will include their Double Rye Whiskey.

If you’re in Park City this weekend, being a part of this historic moment only costs $25. The proceeds will benefit the Park City Rotary Club’s grant program, which supports some 20 community organizations. In addition to that noble end, participants will receive a High West branded shot glass and a coupon to enjoy one of their signature cocktails at any of the post party locations including High West Distillery itself, plus Wasatch Brewery, No Name Saloon, OP Rockwell and O’Shucks. Most importantly though, you’ll earn your place in ski town lore and walk away with 1,274 new friends.
