It didn’t take the latest owners of Solider Mountain to realize they were in over their heads financially speaking.

The Idaho ski area whose sale went viral last year was bought by Matt and Diane McFerran of Bend, OR for $149k. According to Mirus Resort Advisors, “the current owners have experienced the typical start up challenges that come with operating a ski area that has been undercapitalized, under managed and under marketed for many years.” Combine that with what turned out to be a warm winter for Soldier Mountain, and within a year of purchasing the property, the McFerran’s are selling the mountain.

“Purchased in 2015 for $149,000 and having more than $600,000 in capital invested, the present owners of Soldier Mountain are seeking a new lessee to take on the forest service lease at Soldier, with capital sources to continue operation and growth of Soldier Mountain, Idaho.”

Mirus Resort Advisors has since taken over the task of marketing the resort to a financially capable individual or entity. No sale price is listed on the website and those wishing to inquire may be required to sign a confidentiality/non-disclosure agreement before talks can begin.
