One man’s failed engagement attempt is reason for us all to check ourselves if the novel idea of proposing on a chairlift comes to mind.

Sean Strickland figured there’d be no better way to surprise his fiancé to be, Karen Yeoman than to pop the question while riding a chair at California’s Big Bear Mountain Resort. Unfortunately for Sean, when he went to pull out the ring, it fell into the deep brush below the chairlift reports 22 News.

Yeomen at first thought she was getting ‘punk’d’ by Strickland but later realized the severity of the situation. They’d end up searching for hours to no avail. Lucky for them, Big Bear has some seriously awesome employees.

“He said, ‘I dropped the ring.’ And I said– ‘stop playin'”

Shannon White was alerted to the situation and after a unsuccesful initial search, he went looking during his off-duty hours. While bushwhacking, he shook a chance tree branch to the side and discovered the engagement ring. It’s since been returned to Strickland. Lucky guy.
