If you thought drinking beer was at altitude presented unique challenges, try brewing it.  Just ask the Labbe brothers, who own and operate Periodic Brewing in Leadville, CO which sits at 10,156 feet making it the highest-elevation brewery in North America.

The 2-year-old craft brewery located near the headwaters of the Arkansas River has created a unique formula through experimentation to deal with the reduced pressure experienced in the high country.  They also had to dial in the CO2 in the draft lines (which is a work in progress).

These dudes are pretty gutsy trying pull off creating tasty beer in challenging mountain conditions and we appreciate it. If you love beer or science or both, I highly suggest you pop in and grab a pint and chat up the staff. Cheers!
